CHIA Annnouces Availability of MA APCD CY 2020 Release

The Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) today has announced the availability of the most recent Massachusetts All-Payer Claims Database (MA APCD). 

The MA APCD Calendar Year (CY) 2020 release features data for January 1, 2016 - December 31, 2020, with claims run-out through June 30, 2021. The MA APCD contains data collected from private and public payers of eligible health care claims for Massachusetts residents. The release contains eight file types, including medical, pharmacy, and dental claims with associated membership, provider, product, and benefit plan data.  

Highlights of MA APCD for CY 2020 include:

• First comprehensive look at data covering the initial 10 months of COVID including COVID-related claims, changes in health care coverage, changes/decreases in elective surgeries and other health care delivery.

• Member Eligibility data submissions for December 2016, December 2017, December 2018, December 2019, December 2020, and June 2021 submissions.

• Medical, Dental and Pharmacy claims incurred between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2020, as paid by June 30, 2021.
