The Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) today published a comprehensive analysis of Massachusetts hospital performance for Fiscal Year 2018.
Massachusetts
Hospital Profiles provide information on acute and non-acute hospitals based on hospital characteristics, services, payer mix, utilization trends, cost trends, and financial performance over a five-year period through Fiscal Year 2018. These profiles enable comparison against statewide and peer cohorts for each measure.
The profiles are also accompanied by an interactive dashboard for all acute hospitals, allowing users to filter results by individual hospital, hospital type, and system affiliation where applicable.
Data used for this analysis is sourced from several payer and provider submissions, including Hospital Standardized Financial Statements, Audited Financial Statements, Hospital Cost Reports, Hospital Discharge Data, and Relative Price Data. Quality metrics are from the Commonwealth's Standard Quality Measure Set.
Additionally, CHIA released its first publication of the
Multi-Source Acute Hospital Financial Dataset, which combines hospital financial data from a variety of CHIA data assets, including the Hospital Cost Report Data, the Hospital Standardized Financial Statements, and the Massachusetts Hospital Profiles. This dataset facilitates the exploration of the available financial information for acute care hospitals in Massachusetts. This dataset is available as an Excel or SAS file, and is accompanied by a
data dictionary with more information about each of the data sources.
