The Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) today released the latest edition of the monthly enrollment data summaries. This month's publication includes enrollment figures through November 2020. CHIA is producing monthly enrollment data summaries by key market sectors, in order to provide more rapid insight into the impact of COVID-19 on insurance coverage in the Commonwealth. This monthly enrollment data summary through November 2020 includes a
brief with data tables and technical notes, as well as a databook.
Key Findings:
- During the pandemic, overall insurance coverage has remained relatively stable, with over 6.4 million Massachusetts residents receiving coverage from private commercial plans, MassHealth, or Medicare.
- Private commercial insurance plans, which cover approximately 3.9 million Massachusetts residents, declined by 2.6% between March and November.
- Between March and November 2020, the number of individuals with primary MassHealth coverage grew by approximately 147,000, or 12.5%, in part due to the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.
Monthly enrollment monitoring is produced using the MA APCD, supplemented with additional data from commercial payers, the Massachusetts Health Connector, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
