Hospital and Hospital System Quarterly and Annual Financial Data

Hospitals and the health systems to which they belong play an important role in the Massachusetts health care system and are critical to achieving the Commonwealth’s goals of controlling costs while improving the quality of care delivered. CHIA monitors and provides meaningful analysis on Massachusetts hospitals and hospital health systems through a variety of metrics and studies. Learn how to interpret hospital and health system metrics in CHIA’s financial reporting.

CHIA reports on trends in profitability, liquidity, and solvency and also compares a hospital’s individual performance to its peer cohort. Acute hospitals are grouped into cohorts:

• Community-High Public Payer Hospitals (HPP)

CHIA also produces quarterly reports on the performance of the Commonwealth’s acute care hospitals, associated hospital health systems, and affiliated physician organizations.
