CHIA Publishes First Quarterly Emergency Department Interactive Dashboard

Today the Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) published its first-ever interactive dashboard on emergency department (ED) visits.

Complementing its September 2021 report, Massachusetts Acute Care Hospital Emergency Department Data (FFY 2016-2019), this dashboard uses interim data to offer timely insights into emergency department (ED) utilization in the Commonwealth. It presents visit-level information at a statewide level and for select measures at the hospital level from Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2019 through the first quarter of FFY 2023 (October 2018 – December ).

This update includes a summary, accompanying databook, and technical appendix .

The dashboard includes information divided into the following sections:

  • Statewide Utilization
  • Utilization by Hospital
  • Visit Characteristics
  • Diagnoses
  • Behavioral Health
  • COVID-19
